Patch has been a fun dog to work with and a great companion. Patch was raised and started by Bob and Devona Myrick and purchased as a 2yr old. He has a ton of drive and enthusiasm and is totally devoted to his people. He is quick to learn, a lot of try and has a lot of natural stock sense. On sheep and ducks, Patch is very intense, has a fair amount of eye and is very honest with the stock. He is easy to widen out and not overly pushy. A super cute duck dog. Patch loves to work cattle but is not completely confident when challenged by aggressive stock. He will hit heads and heels but does tend to force bark. His placement is correct and stylish. He will also hit heads and heels to move stubborn sheep. Patch will naturally widen while going to the head to stop a runaway and easily settles after turning it. Patch’s trialing career was a short one but very successful. He completed his Started titles in one weekend by winning a Most Promising belt buckle in MT. The following year he completed the Open titles in one weekend and won another buckle (Open/Adv) with good runs and great scores (not easy stock either). He then completed his Advanced titles shortly after in another weekend trial. Patch loves to trial and was actually doing more advanced work in his trial runs than he was in training. Patch is a responsive, biddable dog and is reactive to quick movements. His biggest problem in training is anticipation; he is always ready to go and had to learn not to react to the slightest cue. He doesn’t like or require heavy handedness but is very loving and only needs to be consistently shown what is expected of him. Patch loves to hang out and be your buddy, he is easy to live with, has a great personality and is not overbearing about getting attention. Patch now lives and works with his current owners Linda Donoghue and Bill DeGraaf at a beautiful historic sheep farm in southern Minnesota.
